Whether you are interested in walking along Bucksport Bay taking in the cool afternoon ocean breeze or hiking through a Maine forest listening to all the sounds of nature, Bucksport has a trail for your enjoyment. Three separate publicly owned walking trails offer miles of exercise and majestic views not found anywhere other than the "Center of the Known Universe."
Senior Center Resources
Come join your friends at the senior center for a home cooked meal. Have one of our freshly prepared home cooked meals delivered to your home or business for no extra charge. Hungry folks of all ages can enjoy our meals. Just order before 9 am so we can make sure we have enough prepared. We serve meals at 11:30 am at the center. All meals are only $6.00, whether you join us, pick them up or have them delivered.

Bucksport Area Senior Meal Program -
The Bucksport Area Senior Meal Program is provided in conjunction with Regional School Unit #25 (RSU #25) and is located at the Senior Citizen Center on 125 Broadway. The RSU #25 staff coordinates meal planning and does the cooking on site. Dining hours are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (except on holidays). Everyone is welcome! Please make a 24 hour advance reservation by calling (207) 469-3632. All persons will be charged $600 for meal costs. (Bus or taxi service is available to the program on Wednesdays only.)
Home deliveries are available for shut-ins at no extra charge. For more information, call (207) 469-3632

Growing Stronger Program -
The Bucksport Parks & Recreation Department is offering "Growing Stronger" classes, a low-impact, strength-training exercise program, on a regular basis at the Jewett School Community Center.
The class is open to Bucksport area senior citizens, age 55 and up. Classes are geared to meet the needs of participants of all physical abilities. To register you will need to fill out the attached medical forms, obtain a physician's signature, and call the Bucksport Recreation Department at 469-3518 or email us at tim.emery@bucksport.biz or youthchoices@bucksport.biz. Classes will be held Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Jewett School Community Center.

Matter of Balance Exercise
A Matter of Balance, an eight-week program designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase the physical activity levels of older adults, will hold its introductory session on Tuesday, September 20th and runs on the following seven Tuesdays from 1:30 - 3:30 P.M at the Jewett School Community Center at 66 Bridge Street in Bucksport.
Many older adults experience fear of falling and restrict their activities. A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program developed by the Roybal Center for Enhancement of Late-Life Function at Boston University.
During the eight-week program participants will learn to:
Esther Landry, RN and Rev. Linda Smith will lead weekly classes. Class activities will include group discussion, problem solving, role-playing, skill building, assertiveness training, videotapes, and practical solutions.
Who should attend?
This program is sponsored by Eastern Area Agency on Aging in association with the Bucksport Bay Healthy Communities Coalition. Participants will be charged a one-time fee of $15.00 to cover the cost of the book. Scholarships are available. Instructor lead program through the University of Maine Center on Aging. If you are interested in joining the Bone Builders program as a participant or as a Volunteer Leader call (207)262-7926
