Education (RSU #25)

The town of Bucksport is fortunate to have multiple educational offerings available for its citizens, including a pre-K through 12 public school system operated by Regional School Unit (RSU) 25, which also offers an adult education program. In addition to the public school system, the Reach School provides an alternative approach to education for those more in tune to a non-traditional curriculum.
The town also has a private school that serves students in grades K-12. Evangel Baptist Academy is a coed school, and is located adjacent to the Evangel Baptist Church.

Maine ranks near the top in the nation for the quality of its public education. Bucksport schools for grades K-12 achieve learning results commensurate with the best schools in the state of Maine. Being small community, there is a level of caring and healthy accountability that seems to bring out the best in students and parents alike.
The Bucksport school system also benefits from a strong special education department, and a well-rounded complement of extracurricular groups and innovative classes. These range from traditional pursuit such as sports, arts, and music to Bucksport High's "School to Work" Class, which recently built its own high-powered computer server!
Like all Maine schools, Bucksport High School enjoys a very low dropout rate, and has a large percentage of students going on to higher education. Bucksport High School graduates are regularly accepted to some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country, including Bowdoin College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and Dartmouth.
In Bucksport, education isn't just something for children; it's a lifelong process for all citizens.
