Board of Assessment Review

The Board of Assessment Review hears and decides on tax abatement appeals in accordance with Title 36 M.R.S.A. Section 843.

Meetings are open to the public, except as otherwise provided for under State law. Committee meeting notices are posted at the Bucksport town office and on this website, and also provided to the local news media.

The board consists of 3 members and 2 alternates appointed by the town council. Each year in the month of March, the town council appoints a new member for each of the outgoing members for a term of 3 years. Terms commence on April 1 and end March 31. Members must be a minimum of 18 years old, a legal resident of Bucksport and a United States citizen.
