The Code Enforcement Office is staffed by the code enforcement officer, who also serves as the town’s building inspector, plumbing inspector and addressing officer. Other duties include providing administrative support to the town’s planning board and appeals board, and working with the town's ordinance committee in the development of ordinances.

The code office serves as the primary source for local building and land use regulation information and permitting assistance.

The code enforcement officer is often out of the office conducting inspections and other business, so an appointment is recommended for in-office meetings. Appointments are also required for inspections.

The Town of Bucksport enforces the Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code (MUBEC). This code contains construction and energy efficiency requirements that must be met, as well as ventilation and radon control standards.
